And now...

March 14, 2012.  This happens to be my 24 year anniversary of my drive and arrival to the city of angels.  It was March 1988, I was 19 years old, that we hit the road for this journey that continues today.  We drove the beat up oldsmobile that I picked up from my frat buddy Kaminsky.  I had no contacts and no real plan, just to get out here and make my mark.  Much has happened but true fruition awaits and I shall fight on and continue to pursue and reach my dream of being a respected working actor in film and television.  It is closer than I think or feel but not closer than what I believe to be my destiny.  Remove fear and enjoy the journey.  In my 44th year of life and still hungry, that is good.

Number 5

It may seem silly but my fifth TV appearance is tonight and I have worked hard, harder at some times than others, for 20 years at this game and although I feel my best work was seen by fewer folks, to get these gigs is a tough racket and tonight my bit on the NBC show "Whitney", my first sitcom, is going to air.  A short but hopefully funny little scene that sets up the episode.  So today, leap day, I am proud and I will continue to strive for what I believe I am meant to do, play the human condition in the many forms it does reveal itself.

March Madness 2012

I try not to over do it.  I stay somewhat balanced and focus on little victories as I move through or in this thing we do, live.  I'm trying to get rid of a bad habit, smoking, had a good 6 weeks but last week a significant drop in effort.  I mean I am smoking about 50% less than I would be if I wasn't attempting to quit, a victory.  So I should and shall embrace it.  Exercise, mainly cardio, push ups and pull ups.  My 28th workout of the year will be coming up shortly, now it's the 58th day, just under half meaning every other day, again not bad a victory.

Now, I have auditioned twice, booked once, a network sitcom, my first sitcom entitled "Whitney" on NBC.  A guest bit as a mugger, a 1/3 of a page two lines and out but nonetheless a victory.

My short film from AFI has screened and the work was solid, a victory.

So positive I shall stay and talk we will another day.

Dead Man's Hand

Jason Roman
Well, the 2nd year thesis film I shot in the fall of 2010 has been screened.  A group of friends and family gathered at the Mark Goodson screening room at AFI Sunday the 19th of February to see this little film.  It was my last role with my long long dreads and long long beard and it was fascinating to see.  Jason Roman was an intense character to play and a lot of fun and I was pleased with the results.  It is a solid short film that I will be posting clips from once I get my hands on a copy and do my own edit of my work.  It was fun to see the people I so intensely worked with over that 6 week period in 2010 and we all are still believing in our dreams and seeing some of that effort on the big screen was very nice indeed.

The glass is half full

When you ask a friend to play pool, having never played with said friend before, it is best to ask have they played before.  Why?  They just may be really really good at it where, in my case, I am not.  Wow was I schooled at Frank n' Hank the other night but fun to watch pool played at a high level.  My check arrived for my work on "Whitney" which was nice and I had a couple of stellar days at the 'Shire Thursday and Friday so making a little money is always nice to keep my business, ME, going forward.  Tonight we are going to a friends art showing at some gallery in Hollywood.  This friend took on the task of seperating all of my dreadlocks last year and it took two full movies to do it, now that's work.  He is very talented and I am looking forward to supporting him in his art.  I also had a brief meeting with the directors of "Wheels", the film I play Drake Jones a suicidal, crazed and pained paraplegic on the streets of Hollywood, this week and we are nearing picture lock which is a big milestone for this little film that could, shall and will make some noise in the film world.  Well that is all for now and to those who are reading this I thank you and encourage you to share what is going on in your game of life, play to the end and play to love, laugh and create.

Valentines Day 2012

Well I just spent my 10th Valentines with the love of my life Laura Renault at Le Petit Bistro on La Cienega here in Los Angeles California.  We shared a bottle of wine and laughs as we thought about when we first met doing "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest" in the spring and summer of 2002.  I played Billy Bibbit and she was Nurse Ratchet.   We did 27 shows with the then new Gangbusters theatre company and oh what fun we had.  And to bring it all full circle so to speak we went to NYC in the fall of 2010 with that same company to perform Orson Welles' Julius Caesar in the NY Fringe Fest.  So on this rainy Wednesday in 2012 I am thankful for my life and will continue to forge ahead and make my dreams, and hers come true.

Wild Man for Granola

I for some reason just thought about this commercial shoot at the paramount ranch.  What a day of make up and running for a granola commercial that never did run.  Such is the way in this business but the gentleman to my left was a pleasure to meet and spend a day with and that was nice.  Cheers.

To Smoke or not to Smoke????

So I am fighting the urge to smoke a cigarette!  I have begun yet another attempt to beat the habit of the Marlboro.  My plan entails the theory of weaning myself off the physical routine and the addiction to the good ole nicotine.  I have been doing a cardio workout about four to five times a week called the M100's.  Look them up and have at it if you are interested in a routine that takes about 3-5 minutes and kicks your ass without any equipment whatsoever.  So after the first 41 days of 2012 instead of purchasing about 40 packs of the cancer sticks I have purchased 20.  Now my positive reinforcement mechanism tells me that's 20 I did not buy as opposed to 20 I did.  It is a daily battle that in the end I hope to win the war.

The beginning salvo!

Here I shall begin my online journal of my life in Hollywood.  The ongoing journey to attain the life I have envisioned oh so many times.  So please enjoy and share your own journey no matter where you are and what you do, it all adds up to one thing:  to be happy we must do what we love no matter what the price.

Onward and Upward and stay steadfast my friends.
